The incident commander of BCFS Health and Human Services—a San Antonio-based nonprofit contracted by the U.S. government to operate a tent city for detained immigrant children in Tornilo, Texas—on Monday blasted Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy, calling it “an incredibly dumb, stupid decision by our leadership.”

“I’m totally against the separation,” the incident commander told reporters, according to BuzzFeed News. “Should never have happened.”

“It was an incredibly dumb, stupid decision by our leadership,” the incident commander added. “It was flawed. All it did was harm children, no question about it.”

The commander, who was unnamed, said he would “go home today” if he could, noting his men—who include people who helped in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks—“hate this mission.”

“They get treated badly by you guys,” the commander said of the media.

“I would rather never do this mission again,” he said. “Too controversial.”

“I want to be done with this mission 100 percent,” he added.
